Though Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven are nominally superheroes, their show doesn't have them fighting much crime, instead following them as they bicker, cohabitate, and dance to their own theme songs. The cartoon followed Robin, Raven, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Starfire as they fought crime, and although that basic premise remains pretty much the same in Titans , the new live-action adaptation of the superhero team promises to be a whole lot darker and more violent. Either the quietest robot henchmen ever or Cyborg needs new hearing aids. A bright color palette done over with Flash animation makes for a good time when the pieces connect, and while meme-heavy humor might not be for everyone, it's safe to say the show is connecting with kids the same way the original connected with us. The first Titans trailer does not hold back any of the new show's gritty and explicit aesthetic, which reaches its peak when we see Robin slaughter a group of men by shooting them with a gun and stomping their heads, before irreverently muttering "F— Batman.
